Algae and algal metabolites greatly impact water treatment plants by clogging intake screens, increasing coagulant demand, shortening filter runs and increasing filter backwash requirements. They can also increase chlorine demand and disinfection byproduct formation, producing unpleasant taste, odours and toxins, and increasing the microbial regrowth potential in distribution systems.

Our algaecide, Pura-Fi 420, disperses fast, works in a wide variety of water conditions and remains active until consumed by killing algae and bacteria. NSF 60 certified, Pura-Fi 420 is a simple, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly solution made up of ionic cupric copper complexes. Not only does it solve common water treatment plant issues by reducing total organic carbon levels (TOCs), Pura-Fi 420 also keeps lines, membranes and filters free of zebra mussels, biofilm, slime and mineral scaling, and reduces or eliminates other chemicals and oxidizers that create disinfection by-products (DBPs) and trihalomethanes (THMs).
